How can I walk on to my college golf team?

I am currently a 2 handicap according to my GHIN and have only played a limited amount of tournaments so I am not very experienced. Golf is a huge passion of mine and I am continuing to get better. The only problem is the school I attend is a D1 program and they just got a new golf coach. Just tell him you have a registered handicap of 2 and you're interested in playing for the school and possibly negotiating a scholarship. Chances are when he hears that you're a 2 handicap, he'll at least agree to meet you at the driving range for a try out.
