How Much Does It Cost To Start Playing Golf?

Hey people,

So just wondering how much it would cost to start playing golf, what would be the exact expenses and how much they should cost around? Again let's consider that I'm a complete newcomer to the game so I don't need the top of the top when it comes to brands or whatever.

Thank you,

Tyler. How Much Does It Cost To Start Playing Golf?i dont know if you are in high school and want to play on the school team but at my school if we dont have clubs they will give us some so it is pretty cheap. but if you aren't in high school it still wont cost as much. my clubs were only 100 dollars including a bag. golf balls are usually 15-20 dollars for the nicer golf balls but you can get them for pretty cheap. i just got golf shoes and they were 50 dollars. but they range between 20-120. you might also need a golf, but not everyone needs gloves, but i think mine was like 10 dollars and it is pretty nice. for clothes you will usually need collars shirts and nice pants, i got most of my collared shirts from a thrift store so they weren't that expensive, i also got my pants from there. prices at golf courses varies so i cant really tell you how much that will cost

so it will probably cost a between 200-300 dollars. but it is worth itHow Much Does It Cost To Start Playing Golf? Here's a secret: the "top of the top" is no better than the lesser-known (and less expensive) component brands. They're ALL made in the SAME foundries, by the SAME people, with the SAME machines in China and Taiwan. You could easily buy a fitted (which I HIGHLY recommend getting fitted) set of component brands for less than a new set of the "big boys" irons.

I would also get lessons, but those vary in costs. You don't need lessons from Butch Harmon or David Ledbetter... your local PGA pro is just as knowledgable at a fraction of the cost. Even better, you'll ACTUALLY get one-on-one instruction! How Much Does It Cost To Start Playing Golf? You could get clubs at a yardsale for cheap; probably less than $50. They might be old but when you're first starting out it doesn't matter all that much.

A new starter set (all the clubs and the bag) can go in the low $100's and up. You don't really need much else, including shoes; sneakers will do. Balls can be cheap and a beginner is better off buying cheap ones since you don't have the skill to take advantage of the features of high quality balls.

With a little careful shopping you could be on the course, greenfee paid, with clubs, a bag, balls, tees, for under $200 if you wanted to.How Much Does It Cost To Start Playing Golf?
I started out with buying clubs first, from a thrift store. $35 including the bag. Your experience may vary. That was the cost right away, not counting green fees (which vary widely from one place to another), driving range costs, and any other clothing/accessories you want to buy. If you want to hire a pro to teach you, that'll set you back a couple of hundred.
