What are some good quality cheap golf clubs for leftys?

My husband told me he wants a new set of gold clubs for Christmas. I have been looking online and some clubs are close to $600! Is this an average cost? What are some good quality name brand golf items? Does anyone know where I can go to buy some reasonably priced golf goods? I'm all for getting people what they want for Christmas, but I can afford to spend over $1,000.00 on a few gold clubs that won't get used most of the year. What are some good quality cheap golf clubs for leftys? This is going to sound like an ad, but I don't care. I went through a "gotta have name brands! it's the ONLY way to be a REAL golfer!!!" phase a few years ago. I started to get into custom clubmaking, and realized there's a plethora of other outlets: Golfsmith, GolfWorks and Hireko were the three that caught my eye. I went with Hireko because:

A) their prices are better

B) they have more lefty options (I'm a lefty, as well)

I bought all mine as components, which is cheaper, but you can have his assembled. You'll pay a little more- even more if you upgrade the shaft and club, but you'll just be paying for a name. I went with the Acer XK line: driver, 3 wood, 19* hybrid, Standard 4 and 5 irons and Pro 6-PW; the wedges are Acer XB. I really, really like them. They arrived on spec (something even the "big boys" have a problem with, because of human error that can't be helped) which was a pleasant surprise. They feel good, they look good and sound good to me- all the way down the line. I've been playing them since December '09- at the range while the snow was falling and on the course since.

The one thing I did different was, I custom-fitted mine. I tweaked the grip sizes, flattened the lie angle of the short irons, and tipped the shafts differently (among other things). That's where your husband will see a marked improvement over his old set- a custom fit set will help mitigate your misses and allow for consistency. That's why this should be a joint venture. It'll be cheaper to get him fitted and into clubs that will be right for him the moment he gets them; it'll be more expensive to buy a set, find out they aren't right and get them retro-fitted.What are some good quality cheap golf clubs for leftys?
Sorry, but it appears you're a bit confused about golf equipment - but the words "good" and "cheap" should never be used in the same sentence when referring to golf products, or any product for that matter. If you're looking for cheap crap, the Yugo of golf clubs, they can be obtained nearly anywhere - and if you want to "give the gift that keeps giving," then go the cheap route and he'll be asking for another set next year too... until you get the hint. What are some good quality cheap golf clubs for leftys?I know some brands have lefted-handed clubs, such as TaylorMade Superlrunch Irons Left-Handed,TaylorMade Tour Burner Irons Left-Handed,Callaway Diablo Edge Irons Left-Handed.The okeygolf and shakegolf shops are on saling those brands of clubs.Of course the sale price is reasonable. I think that you have much of time to choose a best club worth the price before Christmas eve.Good luck.
Well most "name brand" full sets of golf irons are $600-$1200. But if he doesn't play much he probably wont need the premier golf clubs but still a decent set. Here is a website to some good golf clubs that i had until i upgraded when i got more serious about my game. They specialize in making clubs that are designed to look like the name brand but are at a much better price.

Part of the process in golf is to go thru the hoops associated with buying your new set given all the options and new technology. Take him with you he will enjoy the experience and you won't be accused of buying the wrong set! Good luck!
You may see the clubs you want here

Golf clubs are usually difficult to buy for people -- the reason being that most players will want to try the clubs out before purchasing them. Just because a set is a 'brand name' and costs a lot of money, doesn't automatically mean every player is going to like using them. Different golfers have different swings and different levels of skill, and thus have different club preferences.

Name brands typically are more expensive -- they have to make up the costs they spend on R%26amp;D, marketing, and player sponsorship. If you're going to drop that much money on a set of clubs, I suggest you take him with you and let him try some sets out before purchasing them. That's way too much money to buy them based on a 'hunch'.

If you're wanting a cheaper route (which is recommended if your husband is a beginner), there is an off-brand set of clubs called Maltby that's decent and only runs around $200. These are a beginner set of clubs (very forgiving but not as much "control"), so if your husband is more advanced he might not like these. There are other off-brand names out there as well, but I personally had used Maltby when I first started golfing, so I can speak directly about their quality.

But I really do recommend you let your husband try the clubs out before you purchase them, unless he is an extremely casual player (i.e. only goes out a couple times per year to drink with his buddies). If he is a serious golfer, let him choose his clubs, and then make sure you pay for a proper "fitting" as well.

Good luck.
