What to expect for my first round of golf?

What should i expect out of my first round of golf, like my score, how long it'll take, etc. I'm playing at a local 9 hole course. I'm 14 year old, mainly into baseball, decided to pick up golf, my grandfather bought me clubs and all (not cheap ones, Warrior driver, 5 and 7 wood, Wilson Di9 irons, Callaway Sand Wegde, and a Ping Putter) Also, any tips would be great! ThanksWhat to expect for my first round of golf?Don't expect a great score since golf in an extremely hard sport to master. Even people who have played for decades might not be great. You will probably shoot in the 50-60s (depending on natural talent). 9 holes should take about 2-2.5 hours. Stay confident that you will make good shots because golf is a mental game so always be positive and have the right mindset. Don't rush and always try to stay calm before and during all shots. What to expect for my first round of golf?
expect lots of wayward shots, be patient. 9 holes par 36, "championship" type course? depending on how many people you are playing with, and if you are walking, could take anywhere from 1 and half to 3 hours. average is 2 hours.

playing with others, try to be quiet when they are hitting and putting. Normally it is always the person furthest from the hole that hits first or next, so try to be ready already when it comes to your turn (speeds up play). While on the green, try not to walk across the line of the other players' putt. That is the area where their ball is expected to roll when they putt it to the hole. replace divots (chunks of grass when you hit the ball if you make any) and repair ball marks on the green if you make any.

Have fun, and welcome to the world of golf. It is a great sport, the ONLY sport where you get to call a penalty on yourself! (smile)What to expect for my first round of golf?Don't expect to do very good. My first time I played I shot in the 60's and 70's for only 9 holes. Now, a month and a half later, I shoot in the mid 40's to low 50's. But, a lot of your shots will probably hook and slice to the left and right and you will definitely have some really bad shots. It will probably take a long time too. if your not very good, it could take up to 3 hours for just holes. But overall. just don't expect to do that great and just have fun and you will do great. What to expect for my first round of golf?
Expect you to think that this game was ALOT harder than it looked. You might even want to never play it again, but my advice is to keep trying and getting better. Those clubs are just fine for starting off though. What to expect for my first round of golf?after 5 strokes and not on the green pick up and put on the green putt. you should enjoy no shame in picking up the ball, attending the flag pole fix divots. What to expect for my first round of golf?
Expect a lot of frustration. You will only hit a few good shots and the rest will be crap. It takes time, patience and practice.

I can remember my first time, I got invited by a couple of friends. He even brought me a set of clubs to play with. I remember thinking maybe I should at least by a cheap driver and practice some before he comes in. But I thought heck I will just wow them with my natural talent!

Well the day came and after the first hole I looked at them, apologized and said we're going to be here all day. See the driving was fine, when it came to chipping it on the green. I had problem's, I would hit it over the green, walk around to it and hammer it back where I just was. This went on forever. It was about 6hrs later I realized, golf is not easy. There is no natural talent for the game. Because there is nothing natural about the perfect swing. Just remember when your learning the swing if it feels right then it's wrong.

But I also know I have been hooked on it since that day. I have a set of clubs that cost me about $2500 when it was all said and done. And I will travel out of state just to play a round of golf. The furthest I have gone so far has been from 700 miles from WV to WI

I hate getting outside and doing anything in the heat. But this afternoon it was 101 and I was out there playing 18 holes. Good luck, in your new hobby. Tee it high, and let it fly.
