I am right handed and right eye dominate and loose visual contact with the golf ball for a short time at the top of my swing when my nose blocks that eye and switches to my left. I was wondering if this is why Jack Nicklaus ****** his head at the start of his swing. Is there something I should try and control here or just let the eyes switch. What can I do to stop loosing visual contact with the golf ball at the top of my swing.?I have a similar situation, righty and right eye dominant. To make things more difficult for me, my shoulders are fairly wide and my neck is fairly short. I can't get my shoulder all the way under my chin and if i do I'll lose sight of the ball too. Here's what I do to help.
First, before I take the club back I lift my head up so that I'm looking down with my eyes only. It actually helps a lot with forcing me to focus and concentrate on keeping my head pretty still.
Also, I focus more on getting into a good position at the top than turning my upper body. My shoulders turn as much as they will turn. A good impact position can make up for a lot of swing imperfections. What can I do to stop loosing visual contact with the golf ball at the top of my swing.?
It would appear that you may be over swinging a bit on the back swing. Try not to take the club back so far and see what happens. What can I do to stop loosing visual contact with the golf ball at the top of my swing.?Teacher is exactly right your over swinging just trying to bomb the ball. Just make your you have a good smooth tempo and the ball will go just as far as if you try and power hit it.What can I do to stop loosing visual contact with the golf ball at the top of my swing.?
Don't sweat it. Even Ben Hogan has said he lost sight of his ball "somewhere in my backswing". Personally, I think it would help not looking at the ball- instead of fighting the urge to hit at the ball, you're forced to just swing. The ball will get in the way of that swing, which you will unconsciously complete, leading to better results. What can I do to stop loosing visual contact with the golf ball at the top of my swing.?It might help to get glasses (prescription sunglasses are available) that would allow clear sight of the ball with your left eye.
Another thing to try is a nose job (sorry sorry sorry, couldn't resist).
The real answer is "Don't worry about it." The more you worry, the worse your swing will get. Try this for boosting confidence (at a driving range). Set up as normal, look at the ball for 3 seconds, say to yourself "I'm going to hit the ball perfectly", then shut your eyes and swing normally. You'll probably hit the ball!
