Thanks to all real and thoughtful answers! How can I promote the game of golf to women and girls? Please don't do that... It's one of the last places that lads can hang out... Don't be that guy...
Where can I find good quality cheap golf clubs?
I am starting to play golf in high school, I love the game, and I am good at it, but golf clubs are really expensive. I want to find good quality golf clubs, but cheap. Give me links to webs site who have some good prices. Preferably if they could be in a whole set. This would be a huge help, best answer gets an easy TEN POINTS, thanks!Where can I find good quality cheap golf clubs? This is the absolute best thing you can do, hands down: Find a local golf club fitter/club maker before you even think about buying new clubs and get fit. In many cases, this will be your local PGA teaching pro. This is the most important thing to do when buying new clubs, and is also the most overlooked step. Properly fitted clubs will help you play your best and shoot lower scores. It is a huge mistake to just go to a store (or internet site) and buy a set of clubs off the shelf. They could be completely wrong for you and your swing. After you get fitted, a good club maker can build an entire set of clubs to YOUR exact specifications, using components that best suit your game. The club maker can determine several things based on your fitting, including what the correct lie angles for your clubs are, the proper length for you, whether you would be better suited to graphite or steel shafts, what type of irons, etc...This may sound expensive, but you can have a proper fitting done and get an entire new set of clubs for a fraction of the cost of buying a major manufacturer's clubs, like Callaway, TaylorMade, Ping, and such. Some of the best clubs money can buy are designed by Ralph Maltby. He started The Golfworks, which is a great golf club component company. Their products are second to none in quality and playability. If there is a Golf Galaxy store near you, they could fit you and build you a new set of clubs using Golfworks components at a great price. Sure, you can probably find some clubs cheaper on Ebay or something, but do yourself a favor and take the time to get fitted. I promise you will play much better than if you didn't. With properly fitted clubs, you will hit the ball more solidly, more accurately, more consistently, and you will also get more distance. There is not a professional golfer on any tour anywhere that did not have his or her clubs custom fit to them. If you would like more information on having a fitting done or about having clubs built for you, you can visit Ralph Maltby's web site at www.ralphmaltby.com You can join his forum and then ask Ralph anything and everything about custom fitted golf clubs. He is a great guy and knows everything there is to know about golf clubs and what would work best for you. Sorry this is so long, but I myself am a club maker, and I see all-to-often people who are playing with clubs that are completely wrong for them. Golf is a hard enough game as it is, you don't need to make it even harder by playing with clubs that don't fit you. Whatever you do, I wish you the best of luck. Hit 'em long and straight!Where can I find good quality cheap golf clubs?

Where can I find good quality cheap golf clubs?if you can find in your area a very good club maker that makes clubs for people you can buy a set custom fitted to you .which is still less expensive than off the shelf .he'll measure you for the right length swings speed and give you an idea and recommendation for what club head works for you and the right shift and grip. you can go to two golf works online and find that dealers page and see if there's a dealer in your area that makes golf clubs .that's the best way .if you have some choices checker row .I have no idea how big a city you're at or little but you can check around and find somebody they can fit you properly .Where can I find good quality cheap golf clubs?try ebay. or you could go to a used sports store in your area. they have deals, just make sure you try out the clubs before you buy.Where can I find good quality cheap golf clubs? You can buy them from http://www.amazon.com/gp/search?ie=UTF8%26amp;鈥?/a>Where can I find good quality cheap golf clubs?

What is the difference between ladies and mens golf clubs?
Can a 5ft 5 female use steel shafted mens golf clubs? What is the difference between ladies and mens golf clubs?Ok.....Standard ladies clubs are lighter, Shorter, generally different shafts and different lofts than mens clubs.....Does that mean you can't hit mens clubs....not necessarily......Try em ...if you hit em good...... good on you...if not try the ladies clubs and see if they fit your swing better....thats what I would doWhat is the difference between ladies and mens golf clubs?
You should put you question to your club pro,he will tell you if you can use men's clubs,or tell you the best club to suit your swing. What is the difference between ladies and mens golf clubs? There is no difference between ladies' and gentlemen's golf clubs. When you go shopping for clubs, you should choose the clubs that suit you.
Therefore if you have a guy who is 6 feet tall and weighs around 150 lbs, and a lady of about the same stature, then it is likely that they might choose the same clubs.
As to the whippiness of the shaft, again it is a matter of choice. Some guys like stiff ones, as do some ladies. Others prefer them not so stiff.
I would agree that some ladies' swings are slower and more deliberate than some men's, but not all. What is the difference between ladies and mens golf clubs?
Ladies clubs are shorter and the kick point - where the shaft flexes - is usually higher up. A womans swing tends to be slower and more controlled so the extra length of whippyness adds to the clubhead speed.
There's no reason why you couldn't use mens clubs if they suit your swing. Get a pro to help you decide. What is the difference between ladies and mens golf clubs?Ladies clubs are slightly shorter. What is the difference between ladies and mens golf clubs?
Apart from what has already been stated about ladies golf clubs being shorter, they are, in my humble experience, also usually cheaper.
Of course a 5' 5" female can use steel shafted mens golf clubs! At least you won't be embarrassed by those girly pinks and lilacs - euch! However, unless you're built like an Amazonian, I think carbon shafted clubs give more result for less effort.
Because I'm a 5' 1" female, I chose a set of Junior golf clubs and boy, does that work for me! Dirt cheap, too!
Anyway, I just need 12 points to move up a level, so thank you very much for such a nice, straightforward question on a Sunday morning.

How to install a lift Kit in a golf cart and what will be needed?
I have a club car golf cart with normal tires and it i normal hight off the ground I was wondering how do I lift the Cart? I know I want to go with a block lift and do you think 4' would be enough? How to install a lift Kit in a golf cart and what will be needed?it can be done. since the cart is so small and light the ride will be horrible. one tiny hole could knock you out of the cart. very dangerous since tipping over will become a problem. 4 inches is going to cause severe stress on the body and the steering components. it can be done but the price is very very high. new springs coils. new extend shocks. 4 wheel alignment. very hard steering. your arms will be worn out after three holes. many courses would not let your cart on due to insurance liabilities. if you do want to lift it four inches have a good medical plan and about 1200 extra dollars. the simple cheapest way just get rubber coil spring boosters. you should get one inch for 15 bucks. easier on you safer cheaper. your plan does sound good but is very expensive and extremely dangerous. think this one out. it can be done but the body will start to crack. steering will go. i really would advise against it.

What's the best way to clean golf balls? How much should I sell them for?
My friends and me went into a creek and we ended up finding 266 golf balls within 2 days and i'm, not sure how to clean them. Any good suggestions on how to sell them would be great. What's the best way to clean golf balls? How much should I sell them for?i always find it easy to put the golf balls in a bucket with a little bit of bleach and some dish soap. i let them soak a day or two then clean them with a tooth brush. this works great they get really really clean. For selling prices it depends on what kind of golf balls you have!! hope this helpsWhat's the best way to clean golf balls? How much should I sell them for?
Throw them in a bucket of water with dishsoap. Scrub them with an abrasive sponge.
Not sure about selling them, unless you want to sit in a parking lot and sell them that way. Anyone who buys used balls in bulk isn't going to be interested. It really comes down to what you found. If 100 of those balls are premium balls in good shape (like Pro V1's or similar), then you could possibly sell them quickly and for a decent price. If they're mostly cheap balls then you're going to have a hard time getting much for them. What's the best way to clean golf balls? How much should I sell them for?I always find a lot of golf balls when I play golf. I usually take a big towel and soak it in water and a little bit of soap. All the dirt will come off easily with a little elbow grease. As for selling them it all depends on the brand and condition. If you have a fairly new PROV1, IXTOUR, NIKE ONE they could probably sell for 2.50 a ball. If you have a scratched, beat up, no name golf ball, it might sell for less than a quarter. You should sort them out by brand and maybe try and sell on ebay. What's the best way to clean golf balls? How much should I sell them for?
They best way to wash that many golf balls is to find a big bucket fill it up with javex then let them sit in the javex for a day or two then get a clothe and dry them well, all marks should come of and they'll look brand new (unless they have scuffs)
I do the same thing after supper i go to the golf course and look for balls for a couple of hours. What's the best way to clean golf balls? How much should I sell them for?go to a auto store such as autozone or pep boys or something and buy some of the rim cleaner which is made of acid and that will shine them right up bc if u got them from the creek they r probaly not in the greatest shiny white condition. u can sell balls on ebay but i mean dont expect to be making like 200 bucks bc u might not even have that many good balls judging from where u found them. What's the best way to clean golf balls? How much should I sell them for?
try putting them in a clothes washing machine if they aren't too dirty
sell them for a buck a ball if they look new
twenty five cents each for bad ones
EDIT:
as far as where to sell them, go to a golf course and sell them in the parking lot
you should really sort them by brand and quality

Are you supposed to make contact with the golf ball on the descent of your swing?
Ive been playing golf for about 5 years and just read this. I always thought with irons you hit more on the upward part of your swing. Also, should I be lifting divots when I'm hitting with my irons on the fairway? Thanks! Are you supposed to make contact with the golf ball on the descent of your swing? When you are teeing off with a driver, wood, or long iron, you will have the ball positioned in line with your left instep or heel. In this case, you will be making impact just after the apex of the swing to get maximum lift and distance.
Your ball position from the 4-iron up to your wedge will move progressively towards the middle of your stance causing you to naturally hit down on the ball. Your club should hit down and through the ball and take the divot in front of the ball. Are you supposed to make contact with the golf ball on the descent of your swing? The key to good ball striking is to hit the ball when the club is still in it's downward motion. Always take divot with irons, the shorter the irons, the deeper the divots. What type of fuel does a 2002 VW Golf use?
I'm currently looking into purchasing a 2002 VW Golf and I've heard some conflicting reports as to what type of fuel it uses. It's got a 1.8L engine and I can't seem to find anything on the internet that says anything about it, could a car expert help me out here? What type of fuel does a 2002 VW Golf use?Where are you located? I'm going to assume the US, thought it shouldn't matter as I believe the only 1.8L VW used anywhere in '02 was the 20 valve 1.8L Turbo that we're familiar with here in the US. Should that be the case, it calls for premium (91+ octane) unleaded gasoline only. What type of fuel does a 2002 VW Golf use?
The 1.8T is a turbocharged engine. It MUST use premium fuel because of the higher effective cylinder pressure generated by the turbo. It is also a hot running so called sludge engine if you dont use synthetic oil. What type of fuel does a 2002 VW Golf use?IF you buy it, read the supplied owners manual and it'll tell you the required fuel octane level. What type of fuel does a 2002 VW Golf use?
You would use regular gasoline. What type of fuel does a 2002 VW Golf use? That will use petrol if you are in the UK or gasoline in the USA.

(no offense) they are super low quality. Although if your husband has never played golf before it doesnt really matter what kind of clubs you buy him because he wont be able to hit them anyways. What sport would you say costs more money in general, scuba diving or golf?
My buddy and I both scuba dive and golf and he is so adamant that golf is a more expensive sport than scuba diving. I couldn't disagree more and want your input if your not bias to just one sport. I have worked at a golf course and a dive shop and would say diving is a much more expensive sport in general. What sport would you say costs more money in general, scuba diving or golf?Scuba is expensive to get started in. Upfront costs for scuba would probably make you think that scuba is more expensive. But over all, golf is more expensive by far. Greens fees, memberships fees and equipment are very costly. They are ongoing. Not to mention clothes that are bought for playing in are expensive if you play regularly. If you play tournaments forget it, golf far exceeds scuba in costs. What sport would you say costs more money in general, scuba diving or golf?I'd actually call it a tie. You can spend as much or as little as you'd like for either. You can gear up for both sports at about the same cost and the ongoing costs associated can vary depending on how avid you are in each. You can blow 125 bucks on a two tank charter or 125 bucks on green fees. It's hard to compare apples and oranges but overall, it can still come out as the same costs. What sport would you say costs more money in general, scuba diving or golf?scuba diving

I have never heard golf balls classified as aa and aaa, but you can never go wrong buying some kind of titelist. It is the number one ball in golf. I would not however buy them at walmart because that is the bottom of the barrel titelist and those are not good at all. However, if the person you are buying them for doesn't play much then it probably doesn't matter to them what kind of ball they use. What is the difference between AA and AAA golf balls? This is a standard for USED balls. It is subjective to interpretation but the more A's = better condition. If the friend is an avid golfer he probably likes to place a new, clean, white ball on the tee and you may be better off buying them new balls. Find out what brand they like to play. Titleist is a popular brand and runs about $20.00 per dozen.
If the person is a newer or casual golfer, then they may not care so much about what brand and so you can buy them the used balls. I'd still suggest the AAA's in lieu of the AA's though. What is the difference between AA and AAA golf balls?
Never heard of it. Sound like battery though.

Is natural golf an effective swing method?
I've heard mixed reviews on whether Natural Golf by Moe Norman is actually effective. Granted, I've never seen a guy on the PGA tour use it, but guys on the PGA tour are a different breed than average golfers. Has anyone used it and been successful/unsuccessful with it?Is natural golf an effective swing method?yes it is moe nornan was eccentic , his golf swing produced accuracy , like hogan . many nany pga pros are undecided which of the two were the greatest ball strikers ever . put to a vote , it very well as far as accuracy , the vote would go to norman. as a golfer , hogan due to better putting , short game . his video makes golf easier . very simple golf swing to copy . the most notable , the swing will work for both men and women . also all ages , and body types . it is easy to learn, and just plain works . it is worth the effort , especially for a casual golfer .Is natural golf an effective swing method?yes arnie palmer! great exampleprofessor layton acura tsx

How Much Does It Cost To Start Playing Golf?
Hey people,
So just wondering how much it would cost to start playing golf, what would be the exact expenses and how much they should cost around? Again let's consider that I'm a complete newcomer to the game so I don't need the top of the top when it comes to brands or whatever.
Thank you,
Tyler. How Much Does It Cost To Start Playing Golf?i dont know if you are in high school and want to play on the school team but at my school if we dont have clubs they will give us some so it is pretty cheap. but if you aren't in high school it still wont cost as much. my clubs were only 100 dollars including a bag. golf balls are usually 15-20 dollars for the nicer golf balls but you can get them for pretty cheap. i just got golf shoes and they were 50 dollars. but they range between 20-120. you might also need a golf, but not everyone needs gloves, but i think mine was like 10 dollars and it is pretty nice. for clothes you will usually need collars shirts and nice pants, i got most of my collared shirts from a thrift store so they weren't that expensive, i also got my pants from there. prices at golf courses varies so i cant really tell you how much that will cost
so it will probably cost a between 200-300 dollars. but it is worth itHow Much Does It Cost To Start Playing Golf? Here's a secret: the "top of the top" is no better than the lesser-known (and less expensive) component brands. They're ALL made in the SAME foundries, by the SAME people, with the SAME machines in China and Taiwan. You could easily buy a fitted (which I HIGHLY recommend getting fitted) set of component brands for less than a new set of the "big boys" irons.
I would also get lessons, but those vary in costs. You don't need lessons from Butch Harmon or David Ledbetter... your local PGA pro is just as knowledgable at a fraction of the cost. Even better, you'll ACTUALLY get one-on-one instruction! How Much Does It Cost To Start Playing Golf? You could get clubs at a yardsale for cheap; probably less than $50. They might be old but when you're first starting out it doesn't matter all that much.
A new starter set (all the clubs and the bag) can go in the low $100's and up. You don't really need much else, including shoes; sneakers will do. Balls can be cheap and a beginner is better off buying cheap ones since you don't have the skill to take advantage of the features of high quality balls.
With a little careful shopping you could be on the course, greenfee paid, with clubs, a bag, balls, tees, for under $200 if you wanted to.How Much Does It Cost To Start Playing Golf?
I started out with buying clubs first, from a thrift store. $35 including the bag. Your experience may vary. That was the cost right away, not counting green fees (which vary widely from one place to another), driving range costs, and any other clothing/accessories you want to buy. If you want to hire a pro to teach you, that'll set you back a couple of hundred.

Where can i get information on starting my own driving range and mini golf?
i am interested in starting a golfing range and mini golf in my backyard. its a pretty big yard and i wanted some information. some examples of some mini golf courses, how to build them what i need and all that info.Where can i get information on starting my own driving range and mini golf?Just GO here my friend!!Where can i get information on starting my own driving range and mini golf?
I am starting up a minigolf course at the Docklands in Melbourne, Australia. have a look and tell me what you think. the address is www.glowgolf.com.au
If you're just looking to amuse yourself and friends without profit, you'll have a much easier time of it. You should check online golf forums like GolfRewind.com and GolfWRX.com to get tips on home driving range construction. For the mini golf part, construction will depend in a large part on what exactly you want out of it. Large changes in elevation, lots of water, etc., will obviously add more to the cost. I suggest you start brainstorming what you would want to have in your course, then take a critical look at costs and rule out those elements that are deemed too fantastic for your budget.
Best of luck!Where can i get information on starting my own driving range and mini golf?

Where can i get information on starting my own driving range and mini golf?First, do you mean a commercial operation, open to the public for a fee? If so, your first step will be to check the local zoning ordinances to ensure that such a venture is allowed at your residence. Most municipalities/neighborhood associations frown on large-scale businesses operating in residential settings. Then once you've cleared that hurdle you can begin to secure financing, labor, and building plans and permits. If you're just looking to amuse yourself and friends without profit, you'll have a much easier time of it. Why is golf growing at such an exponential rate in China?
I have to write a paper about Golf in China, I don't know much about this topic, or what I'm supposed to write about. My teacher only mentioned that it has to do with the economy and social change. If you have any information at all, please help! Why is golf growing at such an exponential rate in China?Luxury good and leisure time. Golf is a luxury good so as income raise so does consumption. Leisure time in economics is defined as any time spent away from the work force. So basically cleaning your house is leisure time. Golf is also consider leisure depending on you opinion is economics some will tell you it is a luxury good. This would mean that getting a raise would lead to less work. This assessment is false becuase of competition, ie raise and promotion go to the people that are the more productive. However if you decrease that amount you work you will be less competitive then your co worker and you will get fired. However if leisure is more normal good ie income still increase it but not to the same degree. So as income raise so does leisure therefore golf become more prominent.
(lengthen this argument by talking about income elasticity of demand it will impress your teacher. Or she may look up were you got you answer :P)Why is golf growing at such an exponential rate in China?

The Chinese government is growing at a mad fast rate economically i was watching this thing on golfing in china actually i think on msnbc or something and it showed a nice as court in china and it was like 250000 dollars to just join it and it was for all the high class people its growing because usa keeps sending all our **** 2 them 2 do and thats y they making mad money off of usWhy is golf growing at such an exponential rate in China?Simple answer is golf is a luxury sport - favored by the wealthy. China has a lot of very wealthy people.
Couple of interesting articles that go in depth about the growing popularity of golf in China are here:
http://www.foreignpolicy.com/articles/20…
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/expat/expatne…Why is golf growing at such an exponential rate in China?
The economic growth in China have lifted hundreds of millions out of poverty, and among these people, hundreds of thousands have become wealthy. The total number of millionaires in China overtook the US in 2009.
As a sport of the wealthy, golf rises in China as the number of wealthy increases.
Your teacher has a very interesting perspective, and from this question, I can say he or she has a better understanding of China than most.

What determines the different hole yardage on a golf course?
What is the shortest and max distance for a par 3? par 4? par 5? and how many of each is on a golf course? What determines the different hole yardage on a golf course? The amount of land availble to the course and the course designer. Normally a18 hole course will have a minimum of 2 Par 3's and 2 par 5's per Nine holes. Yardage would correspond accordingly. There are no absolute minimums and maximums though there are recognized guidelines for par 3's 4's and 5's.What determines the different hole yardage on a golf course? It depends on the designer of the course for the yardages.
Par 72 courses usually consist of 4 par 5s, and it depends on the designer how many of the others are included.
Par 70 courses usually consist of 2 par 5s w/ a different number for the others.jet ski google chrome extensions

What would you like to see in a Golf BB discussion forum?
I'm considering making a golf BB for fun. What would be some interesting and/or original categories? What would you like to see in a Golf BB discussion forum?Problem is, there are already tons of golf forums online. If you want to have your own, here are some forums for your consideration:
1. Forum Welcome and News
2. Instruction, Help and Tips
3. Rules of Golf
4. Tour Talk
5. Must play courses
6. Equipment %26amp; Gear
7. Equipment for Sale
8. Club Making and Repair
9. Golf Jokes and Humor
10. Misc. (Non-Golf talk)
One other idea: If you host such a forum, please stay in contact with it, responding to the member, allowing them to be involved with the forum. What would you like to see in a Golf BB discussion forum?IMHO I'd like to see more course review/travel BB's. Golf Digest used to have these forums (also tips, equipment, etc) and they were great forums to ask people about specific courses and get honest, detailed reviews from people who have played them.
They abandoned that board a year plus ago and I have yet to find one as user friendly and deep as that.

Does anybody else ever have trouble seeing their Golf shot?
There's nothing more annoying than hitting a Golf shot and not seeing where it ends up. Does anybody have any tips to help ensure this never happens?Does anybody else ever have trouble seeing their Golf shot?I rarely see where my drive lands, no matter how light or dark it is outside. I can normally see it when it takes off, and when it's in mid-flight, so I know where it's headed. I normally just golf with a friend and have them watch the ball for me. I've tried sunglasses and hats, nothing works.Does anybody else ever have trouble seeing their Golf shot?
A proper pair of sunglasses can help, sure cuts down the glare and the need to squint.
But many of us have the same problem the older we get.
As an older experienced guy said long ago said, that made me laugh,
"If you can't tell where it's going, hit it straighter or get glasses."
But you can also try one of the various colored balls on the market, I can always pick those out when playing with someone that uses them.Does anybody else ever have trouble seeing their Golf shot?I think we all have this problem on the course depending on the type of shot, shadows, sun, etc. Like retired pro mention maybe try the colored balls if it is a big problem for you. Other things to try is make sure you wear a cap, hat or visor, sunglasses, anything that will help against the glare.Does anybody else ever have trouble seeing their Golf shot?
Use a bright colored ball or get glasses that brighten the landscape. I played with a guy that wore yellow tinted glasses so it made the surroundings brighter. I guess in your case, always play with at least 2 other people so they can watch your shots as well.Does anybody else ever have trouble seeing their Golf shot?I had the same problem, I have great eyes but for some reason I would lose my ball often. I got some amber lens sunglasses and that had helped me see the ball better. They also cut UV light down without making the lenses too dark.

What state in the United States would you say has the best golf courses?
Out of all the golf courses you have ever golfed at in the United States, which state would you say has the best Public Golf Courses to play golf on?
The state I say has the best golf courses is the State of Michigan because the public courses are reasonably priced so that you can play an 18 hole game of golf. What state in the United States would you say has the best golf courses?I've got to agree that Michigan not only has some of the best courses in the country, but more playable, nice, competitive, scenic, affordable and available courses than any other state.
How cool is it to have a choice of more than a dozen nice nearby courses to be able to get in 18+ holes after getting out of work at 5pm.?
How nice is it for you and a buddy to be able to walk on to a competitive and playable course on a Saturday morning without havng to begin waiting at 4:30 in the morning.?
High end courses.... Arcadia Bluffs, Bay Harbor, Tullymore to name just 3.
Michigan has got it.What state in the United States would you say has the best golf courses?
As a Navy man myself, I have played Golf in 7 different States.
My Picks for the best courses overall is as follows:
1) Nevada - Beautiful courses around the mountains
2) Florida- It's Florida, and has year-round Golf. Maybe that's why some of the best Golfer's today live here.
3) Virginia- Ocean side to Mountain Side and everything in between
4) California- Same as Virginia, but really expensive.
5) Illinois- Lush Greens and plush fairways
6) Oklahoma- Just because I'm from there
7) Texas- Because you can fish on the courses if you want to.What state in the United States would you say has the best golf courses?I am not a golfer but I have a few observations. First, I have always been led to believe that it's Arizona. My sister used to be married to a golf pro whose job was to travel and teach. They went there on their own vacations to golf. Scottsdale, in particular. Golf pros are nice guys but make poor husband material, FYI. She's not married to him and her golf clubs seldom come out of the trunk nowadays as she is too busy with husband no. 2. Too bad, she used to win tournaments, with all that private tutoring. : )
I live in the great state of NH and there are some lovely ones in this state as well, but they are not year-round and are often hilly, which might be more challenging? I notice more public ones here vs. clubs/private courses like in some other states.
I know people that pay big bucks to belong to clubs and it's very snotty. I think it's more about being snobs together than it is about playing a nice round of golf for the fun of it. The "club" has a nice restaurant where no one can get in without a sport coat and members and their guests only go in. Pretty darn snotty if you ask me. I've been there, done that. What state in the United States would you say has the best golf courses?

Are there any cars are similar in appearance to the Volkswagen Golf?
I would like to buy a Golf but would like to know about other cars that are similar, small, hatchback style cars. Also, what would you say about the reliability of the other cars compared to the Golf? Are there any cars are similar in appearance to the Volkswagen Golf?Acura RSX; Audi A3; Chevrolet Aveo 5-door, Optra 5-door and Malibu Maxx 5-door; Ford Focus ZX3 and ZX5; Hyundai Elantra 5-door; Kia Rio5 and Spectra5; Mazda's Mazda3 and Mazda6 Sportwagon; Mercedes-Benz C230, Mini Cooper; Pontiac Wave; Subaru Impreza; Suzuki Swift+; Toyota Prius and Yaris Hatchback (3-door and 5-door); and Volkswagen's New Beetle and GTI.
also i know honda has at least 1 newer model that is not on that list.
Well there is the list. I would suggest checking out the Mazda3. I own a mazda as well as 4 of my co-workers. I don't think we have had a single MIL light throughout all of our warranties. As a matter of fact in four years(54k miles) mine has needed a battery and regular oil changes and that is it.Are there any cars are similar in appearance to the Volkswagen Golf? The Golf is pretty unique-looking but there are some other compact hatches out there. Examples would be the Mazda3, Subaru Impreza, Honda Fit, Toyota Yaris, Nissan Versa, Audi A3 (similar to the Golf), Suzuki SX4, Mini Cooper, Volvo C30, and the garbage Dodge Caliber and Chevrolet Aveo.
I own a 2008 Rabbit (same as a Golf, just a different name) and I have no complaints within my first year of driving it. The 2.5 liter engine is supposed to be pretty reliable. It's a fun car to drive, too, if you get the manual transmission. It also handles extremely well, has lots of head room (I'm 6 feet tall and fit in it with room to spare), and is quite safe for a little car. I average about 26 MPG driving mostly in town and I don't exactly drive like a little old lady either, which is pretty good for how much power the car has.Are there any cars are similar in appearance to the Volkswagen Golf?Ford Pinto, AMC Gremlin- they made one of those with a big block and four speed, my god father had one with 500 miles on it in his garage, ford fiesta, Dodge Omni, sorry, just messin, golfs can look pretty bad ***Are there any cars are similar in appearance to the Volkswagen Golf?
If you maintain it and drive them right - all cars will last.

How likely is it to recieive a letter of intent for golf?
My buddy is a junior in high school and plays for the golf team. he is obsessed like i am and he has a pretty good chance at going to state this year, not to mention next year. He is probably a 2 handicap right now and will probably be under par by next year. how likely is it that he will receive a 'letter of intent' to play college golf? How likely is it to recieive a letter of intent for golf? You need rankings that are derived from amateur junior tours like AJGA - so play in everything you can find, the more tournaments the better
and you can't be passive - you need to get your name out there to every d1 - d3 school around and submit a great cover letter expressing your interest personalized to the schools ( really suck up to the coach ) and your resume with a list of accomplishments, tournaments, volunteeer efforts and GPA and ACT scores
Be proactive and not wait for them to come to you - GO TO THEM
Keep in mind a scholarship has at a minimum 100K worth of value - So work your a$$ trying to get oneHow likely is it to recieive a letter of intent for golf?He probably won't receive one. When I was in high school, I shot consistent low 30s. I made the state tournament 3 years and came in 1st 2/3 of the years. I usually shot around high 60s when I'd play 18. I didn't get a letter of intent and no colleges were interested. Now, I'm 35 and live with my parents.

How do you count the yardage on a golf scorecard?
Every golf course has their scorecards. Say the yardage for hole 1 says 150 from the blue tee. Is that yardage from the tee to the front, middle, or back of the green???How do you count the yardage on a golf scorecard? You look for a blue disc on the tee box the yardage is from that point to the center of the greenHow do you count the yardage on a golf scorecard?
Er, to the pin, I think. How do you count the yardage on a golf scorecard?Since the pin placement would vary, most courses, unless otherwise noted, measure to the center of the green. Because green aren't round, the center would be defined as the point equidistant from the backmost portion and the frontmost. This is why yardage books will tell you how deep the green is, and the pin placement is usually indicated by the color of the flag, or some placement code displayed at the beginning of the round which goes with a pin sheet. This way if you know that the pin is in the back of the green, you can add the proper yardage to your shot depending on how deep the green is. A shot to the back of a green that is 42 yards deep would be different than one to the back of a green 28 yards deep. How do you count the yardage on a golf scorecard?

If there is only one yardage given for each color tee, then it's the middle.

Are titanium golf clubs good for a beginner?
I have been offered a cheap second hand set of titanium golf clubs from a friend.
Are titanium clubs okay for a beginner to use? The set is from the Dunlop Vista 2 range .
Thanks - from a new golfer! Are titanium golf clubs good for a beginner? In general there is nothing wrong with titanium, but I doubt the set you are referring to is even titanium to be honest. Dunlop clubs these days are a pale shadow of their former glory, and are aimed at the budget end of the market.
Cheap clubs are not going to be made with such a metal that is (relatively speaking) quite expensive and hard to work with. You may find the driver and maybe woods have a beta-titanium-matrix face, which is a low cost titanium alloy, other than that the clubheads on the irons and wedges will be steel, which is actually the best material for the job.
For a beginner there wont be anything "wrong" with these, but dont be mis-led into thinking they are better than they are.Are titanium golf clubs good for a beginner?yes they are ive played for 5 years and i use dunlop maxifli irons and nike drivers and a titleist putter......and nike balls lol. and i dress nike like t woods. its true that you play better when u dress the part real good lolAre titanium golf clubs good for a beginner?no new clubs are made with any other alloy other than titanium

How Come People Say That Self-Competitor Games Like Bowling And Golf Are Not Sports?
I always used to hear people say this through high school, because I played in my school's bowling and golf teams, that those are not "real sports".
I never got why people said that. What is the electric plug socket under my golf bonnet?
To one side of the engine on my 1995 vw golf 1.9tdi is what appears to be a 2pin plug socket.I believe the car was brought over here from Germany by a serviceman. Is this something to do with heating the car on cold mornings similar to some Swedish makes? What is the electric plug socket under my golf bonnet?Trace the wires back from the plug to see if they go into a fitting on the engine block. If they do, you have a "block heater " that you can connect with a extension cord, to the house system, to warm the engine before starting it.
I'm going to assume, that you live in the UK ?
If that is the case, don't bother with plugging in the block heater . unless the overnight temperature is going to be minus 10 C or colder. It is a nice thing to have, but in most British winters, it is not needed.
I live in Canada, where block heaters really ARE needed, and in the northern parts of this country, there are electric outlets on the main streets, attached to the parking meters, so you can plug in your block heater, while you go shopping.
The block heater warms the engine and the engine oil, to reduce " dry start wear " in really cold conditions, such as minus 20 C and colder. As a standard in Canada, we have our engine coolant mixed with anti freeze to stay liquid down to minus 40 C. I bet that your car's cooling system is not nearly as well protected, is it ?

If I hit a golf ball into a house on a golfcourse, am I liable for the damages?
I've asked several people about this, and I've received various responses. If I play on a golf course with houses lined up close to the course, and I hit a slice into the house, do I have to pay for the damages or are the homeowners responsible since they chose to live on the golf course? If I hit a golf ball into a house on a golfcourse, am I liable for the damages?Unless it was intentional, and can be proved, then no you are not liable. It's called assumption of risk. If you choose to purchase a home that is on the golf course you should know what to expect. If I hit a golf ball into a house on a golfcourse, am I liable for the damages?
Two times this happened to me. Once I rolled a golf cart down a hill and completely destroyed it, the hill was slippery with dew. In that instance my homeowners policy paid for it.
In the second incident I hit a golf ball through a kitchen window (2 panes). The lady came out to the out of bounds tossing the ball in the air asking if it was mine. I told her it was, asked her if she would take ten dollars for the broken window and she did.If I hit a golf ball into a house on a golfcourse, am I liable for the damages?its called common courtosey. pick up the damages and look like a gentelman.
I was wondering this too, since this is becoming more common. So here is what i was thinking:
1. When you see hole flags fairly close to the buildings, chances are they are putting holes for practice. If you live on a golf course you better know how to putt.
2. The actual golf holes go sideways to the building till it's nearly impossible to make a straight aim for the windows.
3. The windows themselves are made to deflect objects such as golfballs. Such plastics and glass exist but they are very expensive. Even though they may not break, they might get scuffed up. They probably change out the windows on a regular bases when they get too scuffed up.If I hit a golf ball into a house on a golfcourse, am I liable for the damages? You have damaged homeowner's thing so you should pay him moneyIf I hit a golf ball into a house on a golfcourse, am I liable for the damages?
the homeowners insurance would go after the golf courses people for their insurance to pay...you would just fill out a statment.
try answering this question if you were the homeowner...If I hit a golf ball into a house on a golfcourse, am I liable for the damages?
Yes, although the golf course might have it covered. Otherwise, yes.
If it was done intentionally, yes. However, the burden of proof is on the owner.
If it was done by accident, no worries.
i don't think so, if i'm not mistaken this is mentioned in the rules of golf book, there is "inherant risk" when building/purchasing a home on a golf course, ask yourself this question, if a baseball damages a car parked along the foul line at a little league baseball game, is that child's parents responsible of paying for the damages, i don't think so.
I live on a lake and don't expect boater in my yard, let alone the house!
You are responsible as far as most course's are concerned.
Some clubs offer protection under their policies for members and some provide coverage for guests at a cost.
If the culprit was no known, the homeowners' policy would then be exposed.
You're good, they took the risk and so did their insurance co
Most golf course have insurance for this stuff...check with them.
let me ask you.....if YOU hit the ball into someone else window are YOU at fault and liable? What do YOU think?
Its a victomless crime, just like punching someone in the dark
Good question. I would guess that you do.
No, the golf courses ins. co. picks up the tab

Is swimming a good exercise to get in shape for golf?
I love to golf, and want to get better, I know that spending time in the course is important, but also, spending some time getting in shape is important also since I walk the course. I swim, about 2000 yards 3-4 times a week, depending on how much I golf, I have never had any clear answer if this is good for my game, or could hurt my game. I dont enjoy weights, and am not a motivated runner. I was hoping that someone could give me some insight on this, thanks. Is swimming a good exercise to get in shape for golf? It's an excellent way to get in shape for golf. Increases your endurance, strength and flexibility. You'll want to add some additional stretching to your routine to cover all the muscle groups because, obviously, golf uses some different muscles. Is swimming a good exercise to get in shape for golf?
Swimming is a good exercise for most sports. It exercises loads of muscles, builds shoulder %26amp; leg strength and helps the cardio vascular system. Is swimming a good exercise to get in shape for golf?Swimming is one of the best - and most difficult exercises. In fact, it's probably one of the best. I doubt it will hurt your game, but may not make it better either. Definately keep up the swimming, it's great for your health and probably won't hurt your golf game. As for helping your game, play. That's probably the only way to get better. Is swimming a good exercise to get in shape for golf?
If I was to do any repetitive exercise program, it would be swimming. I think it is a great way to exercise especially getting the joints moving without putting all my weight on them. Walking in the pool too is a good exercise.
Keep up the swimming, walking the course and the game!!
The best exercise for golf is golf specific training. Swimming is not golf specific. Core exercises on a fitness ball are great . Gof spcific stretching is great. Weight training with free weights and bands that targets muscles used in the golf swing are great. One website I consult is by a guy named Mike Peterson. There are also videos out there using Yoga and Pilates for golf.

How do i know what kind of golf club to get my boyfriend?
i know nothing about golf or the best kind of clubs i am so lost...and i cant ask him because then it wont be a sprize.. so can anyone help me figure out how to buy him the right and best thing? How do i know what kind of golf club to get my boyfriend? You don't. Get him a gift card with the price of the club and then give it to him in a card with a picture of the club. Let him do his own fitting. What's a sprize? How do i know what kind of golf club to get my boyfriend?
I don't know what your budget is, but a better idea might be to buy him a golf rangefinder unless he already has one. If you decide to do this, go to a local golf retailer and ask some questions... which units require subscriptions and which ones already have the course he plays the most pre-loaded. Or even consider the Laser rangefinder binoculars - they're perfect for every course. Check the prices at the store and then compare to online. How do i know what kind of golf club to get my boyfriend?DON"T DO IT.....I repeat DO NOT BUY HIM A CLUB....without him being involved. This would be like him buying you a purse or pair of shoes on a whim....you'll be nice and say it's your favorite but you'll never use it and it'll be relegated to a dusty corner of your closet.
Instead take him to a golf retailer and surprise him then by letting him pick it out and then get on the launch monitor and get fitted for his new club. The best part would be if you seemed like you were into it and interested in his excitement. I know my wife couldn't care less, but when I talk about golf and she acts like she cares...I love it!
Good luck!
then don't do it. take him to a golf store and let him decide, or get a gift card and let him do it himself. What are the huge balls on a golf course for?
I've seen these large balls on a golf course. They are usually multi colored. What are they used for? What are the huge balls on a golf course for?I believe you are talking about the tee boxes, where you first tee up your ball to hit (your first shot). There are 2 big balls (markers) and you must tee your ball up in between and behind them, so everyone tees off it around the same area. The reason there is a few on each hole is because there's ones for the Men's, Women's, and Junior's (may vary depending on course) the Men's are typically farther back then the Women's and the Women's are farther back then the mens. Hoped this helped :)What are the huge balls on a golf course for?The tee boxes. You drive from thereWhat are the huge balls on a golf course for? Most golfers lie and say that they are to mark the tee boxes, but they just say that to keep non-golfers in the dark. They are actually very high powered magnets, or ferromagnatites if you want to get technical. Anyway, they interact with our body chemistry and provide us with super strength and concentration that is required to perform on the golf course. They also interfere with cell phone signals and digital cameras which are a major distraction on the course.
Hopefully they cannot track me through Yahoo answers, or I will be banned from golf for eternity for revealing this long held secret. What are the huge balls on a golf course for?
The large balls you see on the tee boxes designate the starting points for the seniors, women, regular course and the long course . Most places have gold for the seniors, red for the women, white for the regular course and blue for the long or championship course.tess gerritsen tess gerritsen

What and where can I find the ink that is used to fill in the numbers on the bottom of the golf club?
After hitting from the rough a few times I noticed that on the bottom of a couple of my golf clubs the paint filling was partially scratched off and I can't seem to find a place that sells the "paint". I'm sure I can go into any repair shop and have it done, but it doesnt seem like a hard thing to do as long as I have the paint. Anyone know where they'd sell it either retail or online? I'm located in the Bay Area. What and where can I find the ink that is used to fill in the numbers on the bottom of the golf club?I'm betting it's not ink, but an epoxy paint.
You may be able to pick it up in small quantities at a hobby shop. Good luck. What and where can I find the ink that is used to fill in the numbers on the bottom of the golf club?i agree with the previous answer. i've repainted my numbers several times. get model paint from the hoppy shop or a small can from "Home Depot" or something......don't forget to pick up a small paint brush as well.

Where is a good affordable place to golf in Ireland?
I'm going to Ireland in July 2009 and am looking for a good, affordable course to let me play and experience Ireland golf. I will be flying into Shannon and flying out of Dublin 7 days later. We will be driving the southern tip of Ireland with stops in Galway, Cork, Kilarney, and Dublin. Any opinions are greatly appreciated.Where is a good affordable place to golf in Ireland?I agree, Its difficult to find a particularly bad course here, none that iv heard of anyway, must be the rain here!
Fraid I only know ones in Donegal, bit far away for where u are going tho!
Good luck with the weather... :-)Where is a good affordable place to golf in Ireland?Lots of good golf courses to choose from, just a bit north of Dublin is a very good classic links course called Laytown/Bettystown, very friendly, very good value for money. Your best bet would be to e-mail Eugene, use the link at www.ecgp.net, tell him where you are going, and your budget and he will work you an itinerary, he is not a rip-off merchant and runs an established business.
Very hard to find a bad course, but they can be expensive.

What is that little number on a golf ball?
I always see a number above or bellow the name of the golf ball. I've seen 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 0, 00, and 11 and i dont know what it means. Is the larger or lower number better? Is it like the weight or something please answer it in the best detail you can. What is that little number on a golf ball? The numbers are primarily for identification. Prior to teeing off in a tournament or friendly match, each player will show the other the brand and the number on the ball. In the state tournaments in CT, we go a step further. In addition to the number we request that each player place a mark on his ball that is his own and different from all the other players. More than once has this come into play at the state level and the unique marks saved the player penalty strokes for playing the wrong ball. What is that little number on a golf ball?

How to become a golf ball diver?
I heard golf ball diving is a good way to make some money. How can I get a job diving for golf balls. Would I work for a company, or work for myself? How to become a golf ball diver?Haha you must have just been watching Pitch Men. I work at my gold course's driving range and the ball divers are self employed. Basically, you just talk with the higher ups at the course and make sure its okay. However, some courses pick up the balls themselves to be resold in their pro shop. How to become a golf ball diver? You work for yourself. Just get a set of fins, mask and snorkel, and get proficient in their use. Bear in kind that diving has some risk, so be careful and follow the rules, always, and never dive alone. At least have a safety person standing by that can pull you out if necesary.
Then just go to any golf course (with permission), and dive for lost golf balls (and there will be thousands on the bottom...more than you could ever recover). Take the ones you salvage, clean them up and sell them for 5 balls for a dollar to golfers. They use them for practice balls.
As long as you don't make over $500.00, I don't think you have to report it to the IRS.
My best friend and I used to take turns diving, while the other acted as the Safety and Salvage Officer. I'd have a rope tied to my waist, and a tow-sack with a rope tied to it with me. I'd fill the sack with balls, then tug on the rope, and he would pull the bag in. If I got in trouble (which never happened, luckily), I would give three quick tugs, he would dive in and rescue me. Then, we'd switch positions (so that niether of us got too tired), and he would go down with the bag.
At age 13-16, we both made enough money to have to pay Income Tax. We'd each clear around $200.00 a week, plus all the other neat stuff we'd find in the process, like lost fishing equipment, etc...
I never worked for anybody until I was drafted in the Marines in the late 1960s. I always made more money working for myself. I still do.
Life is an adventure....Enjoy it!

What is a good golf workout and diet routine?
I am 16 years old and play on my high school Varsity golf team. I want to get more in shape for golf so I can have the stamina to play my best throughout all 18 holes. I was wondering what a good workout routine is and what my diet should consist of. Any book recommendations would be great or just a day by day routine that I can follow to better help me get into shape. Thanks guys! Cheers. -TyWhat is a good golf workout and diet routine? For workout, make sure you work on all of your body and also stay "flexible". Make sure you work on a lot of "abs" and "back" as that will help you prevent any back problems in the long term. Also work on your lower body, which will make you more stable. Strengthen your forearms as all good pro golfers have that too.
As for diet, you need to make sure to eat neutral foods (before you play a round) that don't contain too much sugar or fat. Sugar will mess up your blood sugar levels, making you more excited while you play while a fat burger will make you the opposite.
Food isn't everything but having a good diet can help your mental state while playing your State finals or U.S. Open qualifying.
Natural sugar is good though such as bananas, apple, etc...etc...
There's a bunch of great golf books on golf workout and diet routine, I highly suggest you to read up on some of them.

What's the difference between VW Golf and Polo?
I am keenly looking at both the VW Golf and Polo models %26amp; would like to know what are the main differences are between the current models of each? ThanksWhat's the difference between VW Golf and Polo? The main differences are that the Golf is bigger, and therefore heavier. It's also more expensive, and a little more costly to insure.
They are powered by similar engines in similar states of tune, although the Polo has a few engines that are not fitted to the Golf, and vice-versa.
Driving-wise, they are different, although neither is bad, just different!
Obviously the Golf has a higher towing capability than the Polo, but the variations across other car ranges is comparable. What's the difference between VW Golf and Polo?polo is a great model :D
If you are looking at the 6n model (before 2000) looks for rust and if you are looking at the 6n2 model (2000-2002) the gear box is the weak link... later models dont have many problems :)
The polo will get better fule economy, then you have the polo GTI, a funny litle car!
The golf is wider and longer than the polo, Some of the golf's have the same engine as the polo like 1.4 and 1.6LWhat's the difference between VW Golf and Polo?Golf is the next size up in the range!
so more leg room more head room! the engine/wheels will probably be bigger. a golf will usually cost more to run / buy.
you get the point! What's the difference between VW Golf and Polo?
the Golf is slightly larger and has more horsepower. that's about it really, most of the other options are the same.

How to make a golf ball fall over a rubber band car?
For our engineering we have to make a rubber band car that must got 10 to 20 feet and then drop a golf ball inside a three feet target. The problem is trying to find a way to make the golf ball yet. How do I get rid of a painful boil the size of a golf ball in the pelvic region?
I have a boil that won't go away (and it hurts). [Is it a boil?] What do I need to do in order to treat it? I have a boil in my pelvic area, next to my thigh. It is big as a golf ball (and is painful). I tried soaking in the tub, and taking antibiotics the doctor gave me. It STILL hurts. I am running out of options. What should I do?
How do I get rid of a painful boil the size of a golf ball in the pelvic region?Go back to the Dr or to a different one and get it lanced, the pus need to be out and you'll possibly need another dose of antibiotics. The only other treatment that i know of is hot and cold compresses to bring up a head or magnaplasm a drawing ointment the end result is the same it needs to be drained. How do I get rid of a painful boil the size of a golf ball in the pelvic region? You can take a warm cloth to it, but really its best to have the boil removed at an ER. They can infect quickly and cause you to become quite ill fast.
If you start to feel unwell at all, go to an ER. For now, just a clean warm cloth every couple of hours. If and when it pops that way, keep that area very clean and change your underwear frequently... wearing 100% loose fitting cotton only.

How to release anxiety when hitting a golf shot?
I play about two times a week, once at a small course to work my irons and on the weekend to play for real and for money or very small tournys. I have no problem playing golf, it is the anxiety of maybe hitting a bad shot. Is there anything to do before a shot to settle myself down and clear my head?
ThanksHow to release anxiety when hitting a golf shot?take a deep breathe and just swing. Its normal to get nervous. How to release anxiety when hitting a golf shot?
Playing twice a week, your mind must recognize that you will be hitting more bad shots than good. Once you understand that, then the anxiety will decrease. Every one hits bad shots. Witness what the pros did at the US Open at Bethpage. These are the best professionals. Just get up to the shot you are about to hit, make sure your grip on the club is right, that you are aiming at a precise target, take a deep breath, start and finish your golf swing. Do the same on each succeeding shot. After a few rounds you should have your anxiety under control. How to release anxiety when hitting a golf shot?Great answer from googie. Everyone hits bad shots, even the pros. That being said, I suffer from the same malady from time to time. I've gotten into the habit of taking a deep breath or two AND relaxing my grip on the club. For whatever reason, using a loose grip helps relieve the tension in my hands, arms, %26amp; shoulders. How to release anxiety when hitting a golf shot?
Just realize that the shot doesn't really matter until after the ball comes to rest. If you hit a shot right at the pin, and it is perfect looking, and clangs the pin and rolls off the green into a lake is it a good shot?? I cannot answer this for you, that is up to your view of what just happened.
That being said, it is okay to hit bad shots. Ive even seen tiger hit a tree, a spectator, and skull a chip through the green. The fact is golf is hard. Bad shots are a part of it.
Try to establish a preshot routine that you can follow on every shot, drive, pitch or putt. Including a song, or a rhythm you can follow can help. Maybe a waggle or a half back swing. This will help you focus on something other than the possibility of hitting a bad shot, and more on doing everything you can to perform a good one.
Good LuckHow to release anxiety when hitting a golf shot?Unlike us amateurs, pro golfers don't see bad shots, they just see an inconvenience. Remember, Jean Van der velde Carnousti, now he kept going form one inconvenience to another on the 18th hole and managed to throw the British open away.
I think the rule of thumb is, accept the bad shots as part of your game. I guess you need to work out what part is worrying you, the shot, the recovery or looking an idiot in front of people. I can confidently say your playing partners will be thinking the same about their own game.

What can I do to make my golf swing look very professional?
I am a high school student and I am trying out for my school's golf team. I'm worried that my scores may not be good enough for my schools team (appx. 16 handicap), but I need some tips to at least make my SWING look good. Golfers, any tips would be appreciatedWhat can I do to make my golf swing look very professional?I would recommend a lesson or two. You can dress for success but that still won't make you a success. Scoring makes you a success. Learn to score and you can forget what the swing "looks" like. Low scores win, looks don't
Stick to the basics...grip, club face alignment, stance, posture, proper weight shift on the back swing, proper shoulder turn behind the ball, weight shift forward, allow rear elbow to drop to your hip pocket and follow through with your swing and finish with your belt buckle facing your target and all your weight on your front foot. That is it.....basically.
Good luck! What can I do to make my golf swing look very professional?
Take all the time you need. What can I do to make my golf swing look very professional?Well, watch the golf channel and practice. Golf is a sport that a 70 year old guy can beat a 20 year old. It is all from practice.
Remember that your drive is one swing, you will spend more time with an iron than with a driver in your hand. It is a mistake people make a lot when at a driving range. And when driving at a driving range, set a target, not a distance. Pick a distance flag, or tree, and see how consistent your aim is with your driver.
Practice in front of a large mirror. Swing in very slow motion. Watch Fred Couples. What can I do to make my golf swing look very professional?Choose a professional golfer, and copy their swing positions. Try to pick a swing from a golfer with the same height as you. If you can repeat their swing positions and weight distributions, you can develop a very similar swing.
Most issues of Golf Digest with have a pull out of a professionals swing shot from 3 different angles. What can I do to make my golf swing look very professional?
You don't want a cool golf swing. If you change your golf swing and it doesn't feel right, don't swing like that. I am a basketball/golf player and you should just swing the way you naturally would. A cool swing won't get you on the golf team.

I decided it was time that EVERY amateur golfer opened their eyes to the golf swing just like me and join the 1% of golfers who have a swing like the pro's.What can I do to make my golf swing look very professional?
Two things can make you look like a pro overnight, and, eventually help your swing.
The first is STANCE. A "hacker" (forgive the term) is easy to spot on the tee because of his/her stance. Find out what a good stance is (I recommend Hit Down Fundamentals at www.hitdowndammit.com or on ebay) and work on that. Believe me, your golf coach will notice, and credit you for potential; something he/she can work with.
The second is, keep your swing compact (short). Again, "hackers" are easy to spot because of their huge backswings, and huge lunges at the ball. Keep your backswing short, and hit down at the ball. (Hackers hit up at the ball, another thing your golf coach will notice.) Short sweet swings will make you look more professional, lead to overall better shots, and will nurture your swing for the future. Good luck!

get to work on your short game...its the best way to get your handicap from 16-10.
someone will always hit the ball further than you cause of strength, flexibility etc...BUT you have no excuse not to have the best short game...TRUST ME...i am 3 handicap..played college golf...etc...and its all about the short game !!!
Tempo !......Slow backswing...it has to stop at the top and switch directions anyway, so there is no need to bring it back too fast...it will knock you out of position....Don't try to swing hard just swing smooth...go Tempo...and finish with a big turn....
Either get video or a full length mirror...go to your local library and get Fred Couple's tape on Tempo...and swing in front of your mirror...It will happen....But I think he has the Best Tempowalkie talkie chrome download

How long will it take 5 novice golf players to play 9 holes?
The course is par 71 and is 5567metres in length so cut that in half and you get a 9 hole course approximately par 35 and 2000 metres.
2 of us have played golf before and are okayish, while the other 3 have never played. How long will it take 5 novice golf players to play 9 holes?2-3 hours depending on the course itself.
Fore! How long will it take 5 novice golf players to play 9 holes?
You said 3 have never played before, I hope they have been to the range. For your sake and the sake of every golfer on the course take them to the range at least 3 times before setting foot on a golf course.
Every new golfer should play a double par rule, if you take 6 strokes on a par 3, (8 on a par 4, 10 on a par 5) it鈥檚 over, pick the ball up and move on.
Make sure they know some basic rules and etiquette.
To answer you question, a 9 hole round of golf should NEVER take more than 2.5 hours. How long will it take 5 novice golf players to play 9 holes?Well it depends on the trouble on the course. If it is short, open, and it is hard to lose a ball. Maybe 2 1/2 hours. Novice tend to watch each other play versus playing ready golf.
If the course is short, tight, and losing a ball comes into play on each hole. I don't see you getting it in within 3 hours unless you look for 3 minutes and drop.
Make it the best 3 hours you guys have ever had!
Definitely over 3 hours.
I play golf myself and i find it hard enough to fit 9 holes in under 2 hours.
But there will be 5 of you and 3 who have never played; and it sounds like a tough course. How long will it take 5 novice golf players to play 9 holes?based on personal experience, 2.5 to 3 hours. remember golf etiquette to let the faster players behind you play ahead of your flight. How long will it take 5 novice golf players to play 9 holes?
It shouldn't take much more than an experienced group. Speed should not be connected to skill. It shouldn't take more than 2.5 hours absolute max. Inexperience is not an excuse for slow play quite honestly.
AT LEAST 3 hours. Easily 4.
3 players that have never played golf before.... you can expect anything from them. Lets say 10 strokes average per hole. How long will it take 5 novice golf players to play 9 holes?
i would say 3 hours because you would be letting everyone through, but maybe 1 hour because you might get kicked of the course for having 5 people.
If You Play Ready Golf I Would Estimate Somewhere Around 2 Hours
hmm i'm a very experienced golfer and so are most of my friends. for 5 novice golfers it will take at the very least. 2 and a half hours
If five of you play together it could well take you 3 hours.
3 hrs
I'd say about 3 hours. Remember to let faster golfers behind you play through.

How is prize money allocated in ameteur golf?
Ive found a list of golf competitions in the UK for individuals. They all say there is 1st 2nd and 3rd place prizes but they dont state how much they are?
Entry is around 拢50 per player does first place get a specific % of the pot at the end?How is prize money allocated in ameteur golf?jason G is incorrect and i partially agree with grizzo, but his wording is a little weird and not in layman's terms. you can receive up to 750 USD of a prize in an amateur golf competition.
however, that's not the question. you're asking the people of Yahoo Answers (most are American btw) about a specific UK golf competition. how would we know how they distribute their prizes? there's no standard across the board how tournament sponsors give out prizes. I would call the golf course or tournament sponsor and ask that question... common sense dude. How is prize money allocated in ameteur golf?Rule 3.1 In amateur status An amateur golfer may participate in an event where prize money or its equivalent is offered,p provided that prior to match he waives his right to Accent prize money in the event
rule 7-2 in amateur status An amateur golfer must not take any action, including actions relating to golf gamblingHow is prize money allocated in ameteur golf?Amateur means without prize money so contact the tournament office and find out what "prizes" mean (trophies, coupons for meals, etc.). You will be playing against other amateurs so make certain you get the right answer.

That's easy. There is none. Amateurs don't get paid or else they lose their amateur status. You have to be careful with those tournaments because you won't be able to enter an amateur event if you accept money.

How much electricity do golf courses use?
They are huge users of power, including lighting, air conditioning, charging of golf carts and powering the water through pipes for irrigation. How much does a golf course pay for electricity on an average month? How much electricity do golf courses use?It obviously varies on too many factors:
1. do they have a driving range with lighting?
2. how big is the clubhouse?

4. is there a restaruant that uses electricity?
5. how many carts do they charge everyday?

7. what is the price of electricity in the area? How much electricity do golf courses use?Interesting point - cause I was laughing thinking none - but there ya go! and me holding an honours degree in construction as well. So to answer you I would say "depend on the size of the development"

What are the best websites for advertising a holiday home for rent in Majorca / Mallorca on a golf course?
Where do I reach most people to rent my new apartment in Majorca. Most sites seem quite expensive and there are so many of them, think I need to select a 2 or 3 but how do you know which are most viewed.

How to get more accurate shots in golf?
I just started golf and I noticed that I am doing very bad. I am shooting 10 strokes more than what I usually do. The reason for this is because I keep hitting the ball short and it doesn't get up high enough. How can I make my strokes accurate? I always miss a stroke or two every hole. This may be because of my stance( how far away from the ball I should stand). I really need to shave my strokes off! It may also be my backswing. Please help! How to get more accurate shots in golf?wow you have opened many cans of worms already. Lets look one at a time. First you "hit the ball short and it does not get up high enough." Is this the drive or the approach shot? With your irons you should hit down on the ball to make it go up. This is why irons have different lofts. If you are talking about your driver it is different. First the ball should be lined up around the inside of your front foot. Your feet should NOT be set wider than your shoulders. You shorten your backswing and restrict your swing plane if they are set too wide. The farther you move the ball toward the middle of your stance the lower it will go because you take the loft out of the driver. Use your 3 wood as it has more loft, more sweetspot, and it wont be much difference in length. For new players a 3 wood is consistantly longer. Consistance is what you want in golf. Your distance away from the ball is simply measured by the club. Set the club on the ground with your left hand on the grip and stand where you are comfortable. You should not be leaning over. You should be balanced on your feet. Try standing on just your left foot and hitting it. This is a good drill for getting your weight shift correct. When you move the ball from your front foot to the middle a little can make a big difference. As Harvey Penick said, "If I give you a bottle of asprin only take one at a time." The same goes for changing your grip. How to get more accurate shots in golf?make sure your back is straight and your keeping eye on ball also bend knees a lil
